TechBrain (formerly Blue Networks and Technology) was founded in 2002 by Mike Fernando and Colin Thompson as an IT Support partner for small business in Perth, Western Australia. The business grew strongly over the next decade servicing a wide range of industries but establishing a niche within the medical and professional services verticals.
New ownership in 2016 saw a rebrand to TechBrain, the transition to a fixed fee Managed Services offering, broadening of the industries serviced and the niche to also include non profit and local government verticals and creating an employee centric organisation that, among other things, offered unlimited annual leave.
TechBrain’s culture of promoting gender equality saw them commission a study which pointed to gender bias within the IT Support industry and resulted in TechBrain pledging to provide it’s Human Resources partner a 16.4% increase in recruitment budget to assist them in finding suitably qualified female candidates.TechBrain chose this figure to draw attention to the fact that the gender pay gap in Australia in 16.4%.
Our Community
TechBrain’s focus on
social contribution, primarily in the area of
homelessness but also in
emergency services, was recognised by the Western Australian Government in 2019 in the
Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards. Testament to our focus on social contribution, in 2019 in-lieu of giving customers Christmas Cards and gifts, TechBrain hosted 30 homeless people for a catered 3 course Christmas Dinner the week before Christmas and has invited customers to join in.
